RIOTACT began with a conviction that extraordinary theatre can be created anywhere, if the story is worth telling and the people behind it care enough to tell it well.

For more than thirty years, I've been fortunate to build a career around stories. I've worked in professional theatre, edited fiction, taught creative writing and organised national literary conferences. Those experiences have shaped, not only the way I tell stories, but the kind of theatre I now want to create.

RIOTACT is a place to explore new writing, develop original productions and breathe fresh life into existing plays through thoughtful adaptation and direction. Whether the inspiration comes from a forgotten piece of local history or a contemporary script, I'm interested in stories that challenge, entertain and stay with an audience long after the performance ends.

Theatre is a collaborative art and every production is shaped by the creativity of the people who make it. Riot Act may have begun with an idea, but it is being built through the generosity, talent and support of the artists, volunteers, audiences and partners who have joined the journey so far. It is my hope that Riot Act will become a home for artists, audiences and stories that deserve to be discovered.
